Story
A king loved consulting astrologers about his future. When a good astrologer visited his capital, the king summoned him to the palace.
The astrologer delivered an unpleasant prophecy. The king immediately flew into a rage and sentenced the astrologer to death.
As the astrologer was being led away for execution, the king had a second thought and called out: "How long would you like to live?"
The astrologer paused to think. Then, he replied with complete calm: "The stars declare that I will die only one week before your death."
The king could not kill him now, for doing so would mean accepting his own death one week later. The astrologer was freed.

একজন রাজা তার ভবিষ্যৎ জানতে জ্যোতিষীদের সাথে পরামর্শ করতে ভালোবাসতেন। একদিন একজন ভালো জ্যোতিষী তার রাজধানীতে এলে রাজা তাকে প্রাসাদে ডেকে পাঠালেন।
জ্যোতিষী একটি অপ্রীতিকর ভবিষ্যদ্বাণী করলেন। রাজা সঙ্গে সঙ্গে ক্রোধে ফেটে পড়লেন এবং জ্যোতিষীকে মৃত্যুদণ্ড দিলেন।
জ্যোতিষীকে যখন মৃত্যুদণ্ড কার্যকর করতে নিয়ে যাওয়া হচ্ছিল, তখন রাজার মনে দ্বিতীয় একটি চিন্তা এল। তিনি ডেকে জিজ্ঞেস করলেন, "তুমি কতদিন বাঁচতে চাও?"
জ্যোতিষী একটু থামলেন এবং ভাবলেন। তারপর সম্পূর্ণ শান্তভাবে উত্তর দিলেন, "তারার ভাষ্য অনুযায়ী, আমি আপনার মৃত্যুর মাত্র এক সপ্তাহ আগে মারা যাব।"
রাজা এখন তাকে হত্যা করতে পারলেন না, কারণ তা করলে নিজের মৃত্যু এক সপ্তাহ পরে নিশ্চিত বলে মেনে নেওয়া হবে। জ্যোতিষী মুক্তি পেলেন।
