Story
Hercules, a Greek mythical hero, was the son of Jupiter and Alcmene. His cousin Eurystheus, the king of Mycenae, made him undergo some difficult tasks. These huge tasks in Greek myths are called "The Twelve Labours of Hercules." One of the tasks was to slay a monster called Hydra that was ravaging the country of Argos. It had nine heads of which the middle one was said to be immortal. Initially, Hercules started striking off its heads with his club. Strangely enough, whenever Hercules knocked off a head of Hydra, two new ones erupted in its place. Eventually, with the help of Iolaus, his devoted servant, Hercules succeeded in burning all the heads except the ninth. Still, the challenge remained with the immortal one. However, with much effort, he buried the immortal head under a huge rock and completed the task successfully.

হারকিউলিস একজন গ্রিক পৌরাণিক বীর ছিলেন, যিনি জুপিটার এবং অ্যালকমেনির পুত্র ছিলেন। তার চাচাতো ভাই ইউরিস্থিউস, মাইসেনির রাজা, তাকে কিছু কঠিন কাজ সম্পন্ন করতে বাধ্য করেছিলেন। গ্রিক পুরাণে এই বিশাল কাজগুলোকে "হারকিউলিসের বারোটি শ্রম" বলা হয়। এর মধ্যে একটি কাজ ছিল হাইড্রা নামক একটি দানবকে হত্যা করা, যেটি আর্গোস দেশকে ধ্বংস করে বেড়াচ্ছিল। দানবটির নয়টি মাথা ছিল, যার মধ্যের মাথাটি অমর বলে কথিত ছিল। প্রথমে হারকিউলিস তার গদা দিয়ে দানবের মাথাগুলো কেটে ফেলতে শুরু করলেন। অদ্ভুত বিষয় হলো, হারকিউলিস যখনই হাইড্রার একটি মাথা কেটে ফেলতেন, সেখানে নতুন দুটি মাথা গজিয়ে উঠত। অবশেষে তার বিশ্বস্ত সেবক ইওলাউস সাহায্যে হারকিউলিস নবম মাথাটি ছাড়া বাকি সব মাথা পুড়িয়ে ফেলতে সক্ষম হলেন। তবুও অমর মাথাটি নিয়ে চ্যালেঞ্জ রয়েই গেল। কিন্তু অনেক কষ্টে তিনি অমর মাথাটি একটি বিশাল পাথরের নিচে চাপা দিয়ে কাজটি সফলভাবে সম্পন্ন করলেন।
