Story
Once upon a time, there lived a fox in a forest. One day he was very hungry and searched for food everywhere, but found nothing. At last, he entered a vineyard where ripe grapes were hanging high up on the vine.
The grapes looked delicious, but they were too high for him to reach. He took a run and jumped, but could not reach them. Again and again he jumped, but each time he failed.
At last, tired and defeated, he walked away saying, "Those grapes are sour anyway!"
বাংলা
একসময় এক জঙ্গলে একটি শিয়াল বাস করত। একদিন সে খুব ক্ষুধার্ত হয়ে পড়ল। সে চারদিকে খাবার খুঁজল, কিন্তু কিছুই পেল না। অবশেষে সে একটি আঙুর বাগানে ঢুকে পড়ল।
সেখানে লতায় পাকা আঙুর ঝুলছিল। কিন্তু আঙুরগুলো অনেক উঁচুতে - তার নাগালের বাইরে। সে দৌড়ে এসে লাফ দিল, কিন্তু পৌঁছাতে পারল না। বারবার লাফ দিল, কিন্তু প্রতিবারই ব্যর্থ হলো।
শেষে ক্লান্ত হয়ে সে চলে গেল এবং বলল, "ওই আঙুরগুলো আসলে টক!"
Moral: When we cannot get something we want, we pretend we never wanted it in the first place.
নৈতিক শিক্ষা: যা পাওয়া যায় না, মানুষ তাকে খারাপ বলে নিজেকে সান্ত্বনা দেয়। এই মনোভাবকে ইংরেজিতে বলে "Sour Grapes"।
He claimed he never wanted the promotion anyway, but it sounded like sour grapes after he didn’t get it.
Three parts in the story:
Setting → fox lives in forest, gets hungry, searches everywhere, finds the vineyard
Struggle → sees grapes, too high, first jump fails, jumps again and again, keeps failing
Defeat → tired, walks away, calls the grapes sour
