Story
Androcles was a poor slave who ran away into the forest to escape his cruel master. He took shelter in a cave, where he met a wild lion groaning in pain. Instead of running away, Androcles bravely approached the lion, took its swollen paw, and pulled out a large, sharp thorn. The grateful lion licked his hand, and the two lived together as friends for days.
Eventually, both were captured by soldiers. As punishment for escaping, Androcles was thrown into a public arena to be eaten by a starving lion. When the beast rushed out, it suddenly stopped, whined, and affectionately licked Androcles - it was the very same lion from the cave. Deeply moved by this beautiful story of gratitude and loyalty, the Emperor set both Androcles and the lion free.

অবশেষে, তারা উভয়েই সৈন্যদের হাতে ধরা পড়েন। পালিয়ে যাওয়ার শাস্তি হিসেবে অ্যান্ড্রোক্লিসকে একটি উন্মুক্ত রঙ্গমঞ্চে (arena) ছুঁড়ে ফেলা হয়, যাতে একটি ক্ষুধার্ত সিংহ তাকে খেয়ে ফেলে। কিন্তু সিংহটি যখন গর্জন করে ছুটে এলো, সে হঠাৎ থমকে দাঁড়াল এবং পরম স্নেহে অ্যান্ড্রোক্লিসকে চাটতে লাগল - এটি ছিল গুহার সেই একই সিংহ। কৃতজ্ঞতা ও আনুগত্যের এই সুন্দর গল্পটি দেখে সম্রাট গভীরভাবে অভিভূত হন এবং অ্যান্ড্রোক্লিস ও সিংহ - উভয়কেই মুক্তি দিয়ে দেন।
Moral: Gratitude is the sign of a noble soul. An act of kindness is never forgotten, and helpfulness is always rewarded in the end.
