Story
Once, the great Greek scholar Socrates had a wife who used to lose her temper on the slightest excuse. One day, the woman became more furious than ever and began to insult him. Socrates quietly went outside and sat on the doorstep of his residence, looking out at the street.
When his wife found that her husband was not paying the least bit of attention to her words, she went up to him with a bucket full of water and poured it over him. The passersby on the street were highly amused by the incident. Socrates joined them in their laughter and quietly remarked, "I was expecting this. I know that after thunder comes rain."

একদা, গ্রিসের মহান পন্ডিত সক্রেটিসের এমন এক স্ত্রী ছিলেন যিনি সামান্য অজুহাতেই নিজের মেজাজ হারিয়ে ফেলতেন। একদিন ওই নারী অন্য যেকোনো সময়ের চেয়ে বেশি ক্ষিপ্ত হয়ে উঠলেন এবং তাঁকে অপমান করতে শুরু করলেন। সক্রেটিস চুপচাপ বাইরে চলে গেলেন এবং রাস্তার দিকে তাকিয়ে তাঁর বাড়ির দোরগোড়ায় গিয়ে বসলেন।
যখন তাঁর স্ত্রী দেখলেন যে তাঁর স্বামী তাঁর কথায় সামান্যতম মনোযোগও দিচ্ছেন না, তখন তিনি এক বালতি জল নিয়ে তাঁর কাছে গেলেন এবং তাঁর ওপর তা ঢেলে দিলেন। রাস্তার পথচারীরা এই ঘটনায় বেশ মজা পেলেন। সক্রেটিসও তাদের হাসিতে যোগ দিলেন এবং শান্তভাবে মন্তব্য করলেন, "আমি এটাই আশা করছিলাম। আমি জানি যে বজ্রপাতের পরেই বৃষ্টি আসে।"
