Story
A snake lived in a hole at the foot of a tall tree. High up in the branches of that same tree was the nest of a crow.
The crow had four young chicks in its nest. Whenever the crow left to find food for them, the snake would climb up and eat one of the chicks. In this way, the snake ate three of the four chicks.
The crow was devastated and desperate. It thought hard and at last came up with a plan.
It flew to the royal palace and stole an expensive necklace belonging to the princess. It then carried the necklace back and dropped it into the snake's hole, scattering a few rubies around the entrance as it did so.
The loss of the necklace made the king furious. He immediately sent out men to search for it. While searching, the men noticed the scattered rubies near a hole at the foot of a tree.
They dug into the hole, killed the snake they found inside, and recovered the necklace. The crow's enemy was gone forever.

একটি সাপ একটি লম্বা গাছের গোড়ায় একটি গর্তে বাস করত। সেই একই গাছের উঁচু ডালে ছিল একটি কাকের বাসা।
কাকের বাসায় চারটি ছোট ছানা ছিল। কাক যখনই তাদের জন্য খাবার আনতে বাসা ছেড়ে যেত, সাপ উপরে উঠে একটি করে ছানা খেয়ে ফেলত। এভাবে সাপ চারটি ছানার মধ্যে তিনটি খেয়ে ফেলল।
কাক ভেঙে পড়ল এবং মরিয়া হয়ে উঠল। সে অনেক ভাবল এবং অবশেষে একটি পরিকল্পনা করল।
সে রাজপ্রাসাদে উড়ে গেল এবং রাজকুমারীর একটি দামি হার চুরি করল। তারপর সে হারটি নিয়ে ফিরে এসে সাপের গর্তে ফেলে দিল এবং সেই সাথে গর্তের প্রবেশপথের চারদিকে কয়েকটি চুনি ছড়িয়ে দিল।
হার হারিয়ে যাওয়ায় রাজা প্রচণ্ড রাগান্বিত হলেন। তিনি সঙ্গে সঙ্গে লোক পাঠালেন হারটি খুঁজে বের করতে। খুঁজতে খুঁজতে লোকেরা একটি গাছের গোড়ায় একটি গর্তের কাছে ছড়িয়ে থাকা কয়েকটি চুনি দেখতে পেল।
তারা গর্তটি খুঁড়ল, ভেতরে থাকা সাপটিকে মেরে ফেলল এবং হারটি উদ্ধার করল। কাকের শত্রু চিরতরে বিদায় নিল।
Moral: When you cannot defeat an enemy by force, use your intelligence to bring a stronger power to your aid. Wit can accomplish what strength cannot.
শক্তি দিয়ে শত্রুকে পরাজিত করা না গেলে বুদ্ধি দিয়ে শক্তিশালী কাউকে নিজের পক্ষে কাজে লাগাও। বুদ্ধিমত্তা সেটাই করতে পারে যা শক্তি পারে না।
